It’s best to stick to old favourites. At least that seems to be Jimmy Choo’s philosophy when it comes to its pre-fall 2013 collection.
Take their Anouk shoe for instance. “Anouk was introduced a couple of seasons ago. This archetypal pointy-toe stiletto shoe has been doing very well, so we have brought it back every season in a different material and colour,” says Irene L. Chan, regional merchandising manager of Jimmy Choo.
Anouk now features an 80s-influenced neon yellow patent which transitions into black degradé – very rock ‘n’ roll, very punk. British actress Thandie Newton is a big fan and wore her Anouk to two different events: the MIPTV Opening Night Gala and the 50th Anniversary Party in Cannes.
Such is the lifestyle of the Jimmy Choo girl, who is never at a loss on what to do, especially with summer drawing near.
From glitzy affairs like the Cannes Film Festival and the Monaco Grand Prix, to more relaxed outdoor gatherings like Coachella and Glastonbury, the whirl of social events that occur as the temperature heats up is as exciting as it is exhausting. The beauty of the collection is that it allows social butterflies like Newton to flit from one party to another.
These were on display at a media-exclusive afternoon showcase at the Orchid Room in Majestic Hotel, KL’s new place to be. Dubbed “the highlights” by Chan, these works of wearable art in a spectrum of berry brights and subtle metallics – this season’s signature colours – jostled for attention among hundreds of blooming pink orchids.
Like the Anouk, the brands latest offerings aren’t really “new” per se, but old classics that have been given the makeover treatment. Take the Lance strappy sandal, another well-known celebrity favourite that has been spotted on an off-the-red carpet. It now comes in different heel heights and colours, so girls could pick and choose one that is most versatile for them,Take a look at our site for more hairflower. and be photographed with it everywhere.
There’s also Freya, a suede halter bootie with rhinestones straps, Chan’s personal favourite.
“Every season, our clients would come to the store expecting something wow,We have all of the wholesalebeads you use every day. something glam,” she says. “That’s our Freya this season. We’ve made it edgier and sexier, especially with the use of crystals with emerald cut on the straps. It’s almost like wearing expensive jewellery on your ankle.”
Inspired by the Coachella Festival when it was launched last year, the Biker collection is still a heart stealer with its boots, oversized tote and a hobo bag called Boho.We have a record for a owonsmart living at an address. This time, however, the versatile carry-all is dressed in python prints with romantic lace and cracked metallic leather. One only needs to remove the signature biker chain to carry it to the office with a pencil skirt.
The interplay of textures and tone is also evident in the Vera sandal complete with hand-crafted floral appliqué. A show stopping combination of satin sourced from “one of the most prestigious satin manufacturers in the world” and snakeskin in rich raspberry hues, these asymmetric heels are sexy and graphic.
“At the end of the light, you can see different tones of the shoes, which is really pretty,” says Chan.
Bags, mainly clutches, are no less so. Bestseller clutch, leading gemstone manufacturer wholesale powermonitor, Chandra,As the only athletic shoesmanufacturer currently making shoes. is now available in seasonal colour, while the Charlize envelope clutch makes a minimal statement with metallic detailing contrasted with a suede black body.
The only thing missing from the star-studded collection were the stars themselves – but there is no doubt they will be stepping out from their privileged pads soon as the world’s biggest cities celebrate the arrival of summer. In a pair of Jimmy Choo, of course.
